Since 2015, Litworld and Global G.L.O.W has partnered Nigeria Reads to promote literacy in Nigeria. This partnership seeks to create permanent positive change in the world. Implemented through on-the-ground innovative solutions to the hard-to-tackle challenge of illiteracy worldwide. Global G.L.O.W combine the power of children’s own stories, access to diverse reading/writing experiences, peer to peer and adult mentor relationships to give an end result of productive and transformational literacy.
We have worked assiduously together with Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YISHDA) to create over 15 litclubs spread across Nigeria (Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna, Plateau, Niger, Abuja, & Nassarawa). The impact is reflected in the lives of the young girls which through the litclub’s activities such as litcamps, Herstory Summit and StandUp 4 Girls campaign has empowered them to be the story and lead a change in their respective communities. Keren (14years old), a beneficiary, was recently nominated to represent Nigeria at the UN Women’s 64th annual Commission on the Status of Women in New York, USA. Keren like other girls, have been able to be a voice in their communities through this partnership.
